About PaxWorks

Your technology should
help you do your work.

PaxWorks IT is built around a simple idea: act as the client’s IT department and keep the client’s best interests in mind.

Our Team

Doy Shipman

Owner & Founder

Working in IT since 1996.
Rooted in Oklahoma.

Doy began working in IT right after graduating from high school in 1996. His career started at Computer City, continued at CompUSA, and brought him back to Computer City before it closed.

After almost ten years as a Hardware-Software-Network Technician for Tulsa Public Schools, Doy became Director of Technology for Morris Public Schools, where he also served for ten years.

Doy started Shipman Consulting around 1999 as a side business while working for Tulsa Public Schools. In April 2021, he made the business his full-time focus. That history continues with PaxWorks IT.

Fred “Freddie” McGuire

IT Support Specialist

Freddie joined Shipman Consulting in July 2025 and continues as part of the PaxWorks IT team, helping our clients with computer support and troubleshooting.

Freddie’s interest in technology began in high school, where he completed two years of Industrial Electronics at Central Area Vo-Tech in Drumright, Oklahoma. He worked for an electronics manufacturer after graduation, then began a career in law enforcement in 1989.

In 1997, while serving in law enforcement, Freddie started a home PC repair business. He also worked alongside a local computer store, expanding his experience with computer repairs and network setup.

Freddie supports Windows systems and enjoys building and maintaining Debian Linux systems. His technical interests also include Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and other small computing platforms.

His approach to helping our clients starts with kindness, careful listening, and detailed questions. He takes time to understand what our users are experiencing so he can identify the problem and work toward a dependable resolution.

Outside of work, Freddie enjoys spending time with his wife, Amy, and their 12 grandchildren. He is also an amateur radio operator and creates videos for two YouTube channels covering ham radio and small-town Oklahoma history.

Rooted in Oklahoma

Practical advice.
Personal responsibility.

Based in Okmulgee County, PaxWorks supports organizations across Oklahoma with managed and co-managed IT services. We work as your IT department or alongside the team you already have.

When we work together, we treat our users, our network, and our technology plan as shared responsibilities. We take the time to understand the problem before recommending a purchase. You should know what we recommend, why it matters, and how it fits your priorities and budget.

From chaos to clarity

Technology chaos is often accumulated compromise. We help untangle the decisions and identify a sensible path forward.

Stability through practical planning

Every improvement should serve the work your organization needs to do, with risks and costs explained clearly.

Peace of mind is the purpose

“Pax” means peace. We want your technology to give you confidence and room to focus on your organization.

The meaning behind the name

Why PaxWorks IT?

Shipman Consulting has provided IT support for years, but the name did not always make that clear. PaxWorks IT puts what we do right in the name.

“Pax” means peace. That reflects how we work: understanding the problem, giving clear advice, and helping our clients move from technology chaos to clarity, stability, and peace.

The new name better describes the work we do and the responsibility we take for our clients’ technology. Doy continues to lead the business as Shipman Consulting becomes PaxWorks IT.

A familiar partner, a new name

Shipman Consulting
is becoming PaxWorks IT.

Shipman Consulting is transitioning to PaxWorks IT on January 1, 2027. Doy continues to lead the business, with the same commitment to practical support, clear advice, and our clients’ best interests.
