Faith & Values

Why my faith belongs here

I’m Doy Shipman, owner of PaxWorks IT, and I’m a follower of Jesus Christ.

My faith shapes how I live and how I conduct business. It calls me to tell the truth, take responsibility, treat people with respect, and put our clients’ interests ahead of an easy sale.

That does not mean I always get everything right. It means I have a responsibility to acknowledge mistakes and work to make them right.

The verse that guides our work

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

Colossians 3:23, ESV

This is our guiding verse at PaxWorks IT. Our work is a responsibility entrusted to us, and how we do it matters to God.

That means taking our clients’ problems seriously, doing the work carefully, giving honest advice, and following through. It means doing what is right even when nobody is watching.

You do not have to share my faith to work with PaxWorks. We serve people of every faith and no faith with the same care and commitment.

My story

I previously served as a pastor, but being in ministry did not mean I had everything together. There were serious failures in my life, and in 2009 I went through a crisis of faith that led me away from Christianity.

For years, I no longer identified as a Christian. In 2020, I returned to faith in Jesus Christ.

There is more to that story than a few paragraphs can explain. It includes sin, consequences, my wife Jennifer’s faithfulness, and God’s grace. I share it because I know what it is to fail, to question what I believe, and to need forgiveness.

My confidence today rests in Jesus Christ, who offers forgiveness and new life to people who cannot repair themselves by trying harder.

If you are struggling with faith, carrying shame, or wondering whether you have gone too far, I would welcome a conversation.

What does it mean to follow Christ?

Christianity begins with what God has done for us through Jesus.

God created us to know Him, but all of us have sinned. We have turned away from Him in our thoughts, choices, and actions. We cannot earn forgiveness through good behavior, religious activity, or doing enough to outweigh our failures.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived without sin, died for our sins, and rose from the dead. Through Him, God offers forgiveness and a restored relationship with Himself.

Following Christ means repenting and trusting Him: turning from sin toward God, relying on Jesus for forgiveness, and surrendering your life to His leadership.

You do not have to fix your life before coming to Him.

If you want to respond, speak honestly to God. A prayer might sound like this:

“God, I know I have sinned and need Your forgiveness. I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again. I turn to You and place my trust in Him. Forgive me, change me, and teach me to follow Jesus.”

There are no special words that save you. Salvation is God’s gift, received through faith in Jesus Christ.

You can read more in Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:8–10, and Romans 10:9–13.

Taking the next step

Following Jesus is the beginning of a new life.

Start reading the Bible. The Gospel of John is a good place to begin. Talk to God in prayer. Connect with a local church that teaches the Bible and will help you grow. Talk with a pastor about baptism and what it means to live as a follower of Jesus.

If you have questions or would like to talk about faith, email me at info@paxworksit.com. You do not need to be a client to start that conversation.
